Zoho Mail: MX records not receiving mail

Incoming mail does not reach the Zoho organization because its public route, regional values, domain state, or recipient setup is incomplete.

Problem description

A provider setup symptom may look like:

MX records not receiving mail after a provider DNS change.

Check the sending domain

What this usually means

The public MX set does not match the Zoho data center that hosts the organization, or Zoho does not yet have the domain and recipient ready.

Fix it

  1. Open the correct Zoho Mail Admin Console and confirm the domain’s data center, verification, and migration state.
  2. Create every mailbox, alias, group, or catch-all that must receive before changing MX.
  3. Copy the complete regional MX set shown for that domain and publish it in authoritative DNS.
  4. Remove old provider MX records only if Zoho should receive directly; preserve an intentional gateway and correct its next hop instead.
  5. After cache expiry, inspect public MX and send a new message to an existing recipient.

Common mistake

Zoho MX hosts vary by data center. Values copied from a tutorial for another region may route incorrectly, and mixed providers can produce intermittent delivery.

What MailFixIt can check

MailFixIt can expose public MX routes and conflicts. It cannot determine private Zoho region or mailbox state.

Use the DNS-change guide when old provider routes remain visible.

Frequently asked questions

What does MailFixIt check for Zoho Mail?

It can show public MX records and conflicts. Zoho must confirm the correct data center, verified domain, and existing recipient.

Should I replace every existing DNS record with the provider values?

No. Confirm the exact record type and owner, preserve unrelated legitimate services, and change only the provider-controlled record required for the intended mail route.
